The Northern Plains UAS Test Site is one of a select group of test sites established under the Federal Aviation Administration UAS Test Site Program. These sites play a critical role in advancing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) by enabling safe, efficient, and scalable integration into the National Airspace System (NAS).
At its core, NPUASTS serves as a bridge between innovation and regulation – providing the operational environment, regulatory pathways, and technical expertise needed to move UAS technologies from concept to real-world application. This includes supporting research and development, validating new technologies, and generating the data required to inform FAA rulemaking and industry standards.
