About the Northern Plains UAS Test Site

The Northern Plains UAS Test Site is one of nine Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) test sites in the nation. The mission of the NPUASTS is to collaborate with FAA and industry partners to develop systems, rules, and procedures to safely integrate unmanned aircraft and drones into the National Airspace System without negatively impacting existing general or commercial aviation.

The NPUASTS is the central figure in North Dakota's focus on autonomy, executing research and development, administering Vantis, the statewide UAS system, and other programs while working closely with GrandSKY, University of North Dakota, North Dakota State University, Grand Farm, and other companies in the North Dakota UAS ecosystem.
