Facilities in North Dakota

An access point into the GrandSKY facilities

GrandSKY

Adjacent to the Grand Forks Air Force Base, is the GrandSKY UAS Business Park. This collaboration provides users of the business park access to infrastructure such as office space, hangars, Air Traffic Control tower services, and Air Force-quality runways. Working alongside GrandSKY, the test site has helped design and validate the safety cases, airspace access, and regulatory pathways that underpin North Dakota's advanced UAS ecosystem.

Research Universities

Our connection to the University of North Dakota (UND) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) means that we have extensive access to researchers, faculty, students, interns, and classroom facilities. The UND Research Institute for Autonomous Systems (RIAS) is a global leader in autonomous systems research, application, and policy development.

Advanced Mobile Infrastructure for UAS Operations

We facilitate full-scale UAS operations in partnerships with GrandSKY, Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota National Guard, and research universities. We have great working relationships with airports across the state and with others in the UAS ecosystem that provide access to unique spaces and mobile test facilities.

Our fully integrated, field-ready technology solutions are designed to support complex UAS operations, airspace integration, simulation and secure data management. Mobile platforms, portable systems, and software ecosystems provide a scalable, turnkey environment for research, operational testing, and real-world mission execution.

Fully Self-Contained Mobile Operations Center

Our Command Trailer is engineered to provide immediate operational capability anywhere – urban, rural, or remote, with always-connected operations and expanded airspace awareness. This network enables broad surveillance coverage across eastern North Dakota, northwestern Minnesota, and southern Manitoba.

  • CradlePoint & Starlink connectivity enable reliable internet access in virtually any location.
  • Rapid deployment ensures uninterrupted mission execution.
  • Integrated ADS-B (in) antennas provide real-time visibility of ADS-B equipped aircraft.
  • Access to our regional mesh network of fixed ADS-B sensors located at:
    • Grand Forks Tech Accelerator
    • Lake Region State College
    • North Dakota State University
    • Grand Forks International Airport

Precision UAS Tracking and Integrated Common Operating Picture

SIT Trackers provide compact, high-accuracy GPS telemetry for UAS platforms, and real-time positional data is displayed through our proprietary Simulyze software. Simulyze ingests multi-source data streams and overlays them onto Google Maps, enabling real-time monitoring and post-mission data export for analysis and reporting. We provide environmental monitoring and self-sustained power and climate control.

The MERT Trailer deployed in a field

MERT Trailer

The MERT Trailer is an elevated sensing and radar integration platform, designed for advanced sensor deployment and airspace monitoring. It features a 20-foot, rapidly deployable telescoping mast for antenna and sensor arrays, radar-ready architecture, prewired to support up to four Echodyne EchoGuard radar systems for enhanced detection capability.

Data Collection & Event Logging

We provide a TICS (Time Index Capture System) for precision data collection. Its browser-based software requires no device installation and captures time-stamped mission events (planned or unplanned), exporting them into clean CSV files for seamless data analysis. We also have mobile data capture tablets for operations.
