Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded two contracts totaling nearly $2.3 million to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and Appareo Systems LLC to conduct unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) research in collaboration with the Northern Plains UAS Test Site in North Dakota. The awards were made available under a program that Hoeven established and worked to fund, supporting partnerships between companies and the nation’s UAS test sites to demonstrate or validate technologies essential to the safe integration of UAS into the national airspace.
